A Port Charlotte man was arrested late last night after he allegedly attempted to take a woman’s back pack from her at knifepoint.

Major Crimes detectives arrested Tyrone Marion, 44, of 1025 Gerard Court in Port Charlotte, on charges of Robbery with a Weapon.

According to the report, a woman was walking home from the Rainbow Food Mart located along Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte when a man on a bicycle approached her. The victim said the man was brandishing a large knife and told her to give him her back pack or he would stab and kill her. The woman said she told the man she wouldn’t give him her back pack. She said the man rode away on his bicycle in the direction of the Rainbow Food Mart. She described the man as being a Black male, wearing black jeans and a black shirt with white writing on it. She described the bike as being white with pink on it. The victim said she was in fear for her life at the time.

While deputies were taking the initial report from the woman, other deputies located Marion in the area of Harbor Blvd. and Gibralter Avenue. Deputies drove the victim by that area and she identified Marion as the man who tried to rob her. Deputies were unable to locate the knife in the area.
