Some important new grants to community organizations for the new year. The Gulf Coast Community Foundation in Venice is handing out 375-thousand dollars in grants to area non-profit groups. One of the largest is a 78-thousand-dollar grant to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Sun Coast to expand its Decisions To Win mentoring program. That’s a program that helps students who are at risk for dropping out of school. Another big grant of over 79-thousand to Jewish Family and Childrens Service of Sarasota-Manatee to keep a grant writer on staff for fund raising.
