North Shore Park in Lee County is under a bacteria advisory after waters there tested unusually high for a germ that can cause intestinal distress if consumed. Though swimming is not allowed in the area, but fishing is popular there. Earlier this week, a Punta Gorda man contracted a bacterial infection after exposure to water at Ponce de Leon Park. It was the first report of bacteria in Charlotte County this year.
