The State Attorney’s Office has cleared North Port Police Officer Aaron Nick in the October shooting death of Pembroke Pines, Fla., resident James Duttman, according to a report released last week.  According to the Englewood Sun the report shows that Nick used justifiable force in twice shooting Duttman with his service weapon in a remote section of North Toledo Blade Boulevard, where Duttman was sitting in his van. The report, which was signed by 12th Judicial Circuit Chief Assistant State Attorney Craig Schaeffer, states that investigators believed Duttman was trying to commit “suicide by cop,” based on what family and authorities described as increasingly strange and violent behavior in recent months.
