An Englewood organization that gives out Thanksgiving dinner to low-income and homeless folks has double the usual need in 2016 for turkeys and other meal items. Pat Knox, manager of the St. David’s Jubilee Center tells the Englewood Sun that last year, 135 families needed Thanksgiving dinners; this year it’s up to 300. The center is also sponsoring a free meal at Indian Mound Park on Thanksgiving Day from noon to 2. Knox says the center needs donations of turkeys or side dishes or 10 dollar gift certificates from Publix or Winn-Dixie. They can be taken to the center between Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7.
