An investigator with the State Attorney in Lee County now faces a DUI charge from a deadly hit-and-run.
Authorities arrested Charles Lawson following a Christmas Eve crash in Fort Myers. They suspect him of driving the car that hit and killed 48-year-old Michael Sasen.
The collision apparently happened as Sasen walked back to his home. It supposedly took place as he walked on McGregor Boulevard near Kasamada Drive.
The highway patrol continues investigating, and the crash may have involved a state-owned vehicle. A car matching the suspect vehicle passed through the area late in the day Wednesday.
To avoid impropriety, prosecutors in a different jurisdiction must handle the case.
