Narrative:
On 5/6/13 at approximately 1836 hours, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to a person floating in a water retention area at the rear of the Publix complex in the 8400 block of Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL. Upon arrival of deputies, an unresponsive male subject in his fifties was found in the water and removed. Sarasota County Fire Paramedics then treated the person but ultimately declared him dead at the scene.
There were no obvious signs of death while on scene. However, Sarasota County Sheriff’s detectives are currently working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause. The victim has been identified but this information is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
