Housing starts in the region have climbed to their fastest rate in nearly a decade.
A new report from Metrostudy shows construction started on nearly 1,500 single-family units in the region during the spring.
That represents a gain of nearly 18 percent over the last year.
Regional director Tony Polito says buyers closed on nearly the same amount of homes in the quarter.
He calls it the best three-month period since the Great Recession.
