A semi-truck hit a 48-year-old man who rode a bike.
It happened in the southbound lane of Tamiami Trail at North Port Boulevard.
The truck driver called 911 and tried performing CPR after it happened.
The city has identified the deceased as a homeless man. He died at the scene.
The collision happened before sunrise, and the bike had no lights.
The city has not released the man’s name, and the investigation continues.
