One sign of an improving Sun Coast economy: an increase in residential building permits. North Port, whose home building industry has been down for five years, reports ninety-five new residential construction permits were issued during the last fiscal year. That’s more than double the year before. However, it’s nowhere near the whopping 4,200 residential new construction permits that were issued in fiscal year 2005.
