Port Charlotte could become its own city, if one group gets its way. The group “Incorporate Port Charlotte” is raising money to complete a feasibility study on the issue that they hope will show incorporation will keep taxes near current levels while improving local governance. NBC2 reports that one goal behind the effort is to improve the look of U.S. 41, and the group points to Punta Gorda and North Port as examples of what they want to achieve.
