The Florida Lottery says more people bought tickets for its scratch-off games last week than ever in its history.

Lottery officials say $78.5 million in scratch-off game tickets changed hands last week. That trumps the record set in March 2012 by $4.5 million.

The 100x The Cash and the Gold Rush Tripler games proved the biggest sellers. They combined for more than $24 million in sales last week. Twenty-one different games had sales topping $1 million last week.

Officials say Florida’s scratch-off games have surpassed the New York Lottery’s similar games for each of the past four weeks. The New York Lottery ranks as the nation’s largest.
