TALLAHASSEEE, Fla. (FLV) – Governor Ron DeSantis has instructed state emergency authorities to closely monitor and make necessary preparations for a potential tropical weather system that may enter the Gulf of Mexico and could potentially affect the Gulf coast of Florida.

Although the system has yet to officially form, as of Friday morning, the National Hurricane Center still designates it as a “disturbance.” It’s important to note that developments in the situation and projections could change. Governor DeSantis emphasized the need for residents to stay alert and make necessary arrangements in case of potential impacts during the early part of the upcoming week. This announcement was made on Thursday evening.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management has encouraged the people of Florida to review their disaster plans and ensure that their disaster kits are adequately stocked to last for a minimum of seven days.
