Florida is the worst state in the nation in terms of per capita identity theft, according to the Federal Trade Commission, and one Florida lawmaker is trying to help curb that trend. U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan introduced legislation on the House floor today that would allow employees to keep Social Security numbers off of common tax forms, which are being used more frequently to file false tax returns. Nearly half of the nation’s top 20 cities for identity theft are in Florida.
