In a follow-up to yesterday’s story on the latest Florida Senate district map, Republican senator Bill Galvano of Bradenton says the Senate is considering appealing the decision by Circuit Judge George Reynolds to approve a district map created by a voters’ rights coalition rather than a map drawn by the legislature. Reynolds’ decision means all 40 Senate districts will be up for election next year; however, the state constitution requires staggered senatorial elections, so 20 seats would go for re-election in 2018 while the other 20 would serve full four-year terms.
