The Florida House of Representatives wasted little time in striking proposed changes to the congressional district map approved yesterday by the Senate. A main battle between the chambers remains over the fate of Sarasota and Hillsborough counties. The House continues to prefer splitting those counties between districts while keeping other contested areas of central and south Florida whole. The legislature is under a self-imposed deadline of noon tomorrow to finalize the new map, and at latest check, no calls for an extension of the special session have been made.
