A Florida House of Representatives committee approved a “base map” today that would comply with a state Supreme Court ruling last month. The House plans to hold a final vote on Monday. Meanwhile, the state Senate continued wrangling with several amendment proposals, including one to keep Sarasota County from being split between districts, but some GOP leaders are not optimistic about those changes making the final plan. Even if an amendment passes the Senate, it would face more challenges in the House. The redistricting session ends next week.
