The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a Venice-area home today. The fire was reported just after 10:30 this morning in a single story home on Granite Woods Loop in the Stoneybrook subdivision. The fire was out in about two hours. There was no one home at the time. A firefighter was taken to Venice Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Herald-Tribune reports the current owners have had the property for about a year.
