It’s official: Property taxes are going up in North Port. The City Commission voting four to one for a budget that will hike property taxes by around seven percent in 2012. Linda Yates the only Commissioner to vote against the budget, which will hit 111-million dollars. The increase necessary due to income shortfalls caused by declining property values and thus, reduced property tax collections.
