Detectives have accused a convicted felon of stealing a semi-automatic rifle and 600 rounds of ammunition.
They believe 39-year-old Joseph Stout III of Sarasota has taken these from a home on 6th Street.
Deputies say they learned a pawn shop had bought the rifle and ammunition.
The sale ultimately traced back to Stout.
The sheriff’s office believes he went into the home through an unlocked sliding glass door.
Stout’s criminal history dates back to 1999. It shows three convictions.
