The cost of protecting Governor Scott and other dignitaries in Florida jumped sharply last year, and that’s because of the Republican National Convention. In all, 2.6-million-dollars was spent on security details in the last fiscal year, with 2.2-million spent transporting and protecting the Scotts on the road and at the Governor’s Mansion. It cost 425-thousand to protect visiting dignitaries in Florida, including South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie.
