An ex-North Port cop’s been sentenced to a years probation on a no contest plea to first degree misdemeanor domestic battery.

In a plea deal, Michael Dietz must complete a 29-week Certified Batterer Intervention Program, which addresses anger management substance abuse and other issues; and must not make any harmful contact with his victim. Non-compliance could mean up to a year behind bars. He was arrested by Sarasota Sheriff’s deputies while off duty in March for allegedly battering his then fiancee in February at the home they shared after she tried to end to their relationship via text message.
