Former Lowndes County Sheriff’s deputy Jason Stacks has been sentenced to 21-months in prison and two years supervised release for his role in an scheme to extort cash from Hispanic drivers by making illegal traffic stops on them, in violation of their civil rights, threatening them with deportation or arrest if they didn’t pay. The Daily Times reports the 29-year old pleaded guilty to a civil rights conspiracy charge last year.
