A former Charlotte County deputy will spend five and a half years in prison for possession of child pornography. 64-year old Kenneth Barton, who resigned from CCSO in 2007, was sentenced this afternoon. NBC2 reports when he left the department he was under investigation for allegedly molesting a young family member and also a teen in the sheriff’s office Explorer program. Barton wasn’t charged. He was busted last year for downloading several graphic child porn videos. He will also have to register as a sexual offender. His prison term was below the maximum 10 years he faced.
