Repairs continuing today after a bizarre pair of near-catastrophes at the Sun Coast Humane Society early in the week. A lightning storm blew out a power transformer and caused it and the pole it was mounted on to crash to the ground. That scorched an exterior wall and wiped out the shelter’s electrical service panels. At about the same time, the Society says an underground water main in the parking lot blew, sending a geyser into the air and causing asphalt damage. A generator kicked in a provided power and no animals were injured.
