Edison State College’s gotten a $6,000 donation that will allow them to rehab their observatory telescope and add digital imaging capability. The North Port Sun reports the donor’s from Georgia, and made the donation after attending an observation night while visiting family in Punta Gorda, and noticed the observatory wasn’t handicapped accessible. The donor, Sam Horgan, has a family member who is handicapped. The telescope is being refurbished and upgraded in San Diego, and should be back in operation by September, when the observatory plans to resume its monthly observation nights.
