A DeSoto County man who advertised on Craig’s List that he had “blues” for sale was arrested on multiple drug charges Tuesday when detectives purchased a different kind of little blue pill from him.

Sheriff’s Office Narcotics detectives found a listing on Craig’s List where someone was advertising that he had “blues” for sale. The street name “blues” is typically used in connection with Oxycodone pills. But the detectives found that it was a different medication – Viagra – that was being offered for sale.

After making contact with the seller at the phone number listed in the ad, detectives arranged to meet in the parking lot of the Bermont Road Winn Dixie in Punta Gorda on Tuesday at about noon. Two undercover detectives located the vehicle the person on the phone had described and purchased three 10-packs of what appeared to be Viagra for $150.

After the transaction was complete, detectives gave the signal for other units to move in. They arrested Elbert Lee Butts, 48, of 3042 Tony Drive in Arcadia on charges of Sale of a Prescription Medication.

When they searched Butts’ vehicle, they located 11 more 10-packs of Viagra, as well as a baggie containing three white pills that were identified as Hydrocodone and one green pill identified as Clonazepam. As a result Butts was also charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Prescription Medication without a Prescription and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released on a $9,000 bond.

Anyone with knowledge of illegal drug activity is asked to please call the CCSO Narcotics Unit at 941-575-2157, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
