The sheriff’s office has identified those involved in last week’s shooting at the Charlotte Harbor RV Park.

Shortly after deputies arrived last Tuesday morning, four children lef the trailer. Some of the deputies had to redirect traffic on Highway 41 in both directions in front of the RV park.

The office has identified the shooter as 36-year-old Rosemery Martinez, with whom personnel had a standoff for five hours.

During that standoff, the SWAT team used an armored personnel carrier to go into the park next to the trailer. It safely carried 20-year-old Blake Reeves to safety. She later went to Lee Memorial Hospital.

At some point, deputies lost contact with Martinez. Even after using gas canisters, they no longer had a response from her. The SWAT team entered the trailer and found her and 42-year-old Jonathan Brewer dead inside.

Detectives continue investigating, and official reports from the medical examiner’s office may not arrive for weeks.
