Two sailors are safely on land after their fishing boat sank 170 miles out in the Gulf. The Coast Guard says their boat, the “Lucky Dog”, began taking water yesterday morning due west of the Sun Coast. That’s when the men activated their Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon — or EPIRB — and the Coast Guard was alerted. The men then abandoned the boat and awaited rescue. Ten hours later, the Coast Guard cutter “Marlin” was able to locate the two and bring them safely aboard. Both men uninjured in the ordeal.
