Punta Gorda Police Department say two people are going around town stealing credit cards.
Police say the thefts occur when one of the two women gain the attention of the store owner/employee, while the other seeks out the employee’s purse to commit the theft. They have received several reports of two African-American women running the scheme at Punta Gorda businesses. While officers have reason to believe these women may have moved on, they say the technique they use is reported frequently.
