A plane crash at the airport in Punta Gorda this morning and it couldn’t have happened closer to first responders. Reports say a small plane apparently came in short of the runway and crashed near Gulf Course Boulevard and Henry Street shortly before eleven o’clock this morning. No one was seriously injured. The crash came just a few hundred feet from Charlotte County’s airport fire station. The aircraft described as a single-engine private plane. Witnesses say it crash into the airport fence short of the runway.
