The Engle­wood Com­mu­nity Devel­op­ment Area Advi­sory Board will hear updates on sev­eral upcom­ing events at its meet­ing later this week.

Prepa­ra­tions for the weekly West Dear­born Street Farmer’s Mar­ket, the Lemon Bay Gar­den Club’s Christ­mas Bazaar, the F.A.M.E. Music Fes­ti­val, and a cou­ple of new events – the Rotary Wine & Cheese Fest and the Viet­nam Trav­el­ing Memo­r­ial Wall visit – will be discussed. Sara­sota County Pub­lic Works and Plan­ning manager Clark Davis will be on hand to talk about county impact fees. Impact fees are charges assessed against newly devel­oped prop­erty to recover the cost incurred by a local gov­ern­ment in pro­vid­ing the com­mu­nity with pub­lic facil­i­ties. Last sum­mer, the city of Sara­sota sus­pended some impact fees for 10 years to encour­age new devel­op­ment in the city.
