A 2001 Charlotte County murder case got some closure yesterday. A jury took only 90 minutes to convict Phillip Barr of first-degree murder in the death of Tara Ord Sidarovich, whose remains were found near Burnt Store Road in 2002. Barr, who was arrested in 2012 after having moved to Vermont, immediately received a mandatory life sentence for the conviction, bringing an end to at least part of the 14-year-old case. Barr’s co-defendant, 42-year-old David McMannis, has a Dec. 1 pretrial conference that could determine his trial date.
