Construction’s expected to start in the next couple of months on a veterans memorial in Englewood.

The West Dearborn Veteran Memorial’s being built at 10 Harbor Lane, in the Englewood Community Redevelopment Area, and should be finished next year. The Herald-Tribune reports plans call for a 6,200-square-foot, outdoor plaza overlooking Lemon Bay that can be used for Memorial and Veterans Day ceremonies. There’ll also be 29 parking spaces and an information kiosk. More parking is also coming to the neighborhood, including 66 spaces at 404 W. Green St. and 56 spaces at 49 Cedar St. Those lots will have solar-powered lights and electric car charging stations.
