A number of Sarasota County’s roads are badly in need of re-paving and other repairs. Now, County Commissioners are indicating they’d like to up the road repair budget by two to three million dollars to do something about that. At a budget meeting yesterday, Commissioners talked about the possibility of increasing what Sarasota County spends on road maintenance from four to five million dollars to seven million. Where to get that money is another issue, however, since the county is already on the hook for a federally-mandate radio communications system upgrade that could cost as much as 30-million dollars in the 2013 budget.
