A collegiate swimmer drowned over the weekend at a local pool. 21-year-old Tate Ramsden, a Tennessee native and member of the Dartmouth College swim team, was visiting family in Sarasota over the holiday weekend. Eyewitnesses say Ramsden was swimming laps at the YMCA Selby Aquatic Center when he began to exhibit some distress before losing consciousness. Lifeguards and then paramedics performed CPR but without success. Ramsden was scheduled to graduate in 2017. His family is planning a memorial this weekend in Nashville. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
