A new fire boat coming to help protect boaters and shore-dwellers in Charlotte County. The county Board of Commissioners voting to allocate funds for the vessel, which would serve Charlotte Harbor and Peace River. With only one dissenting vote, Commissioners agreed to foot the bill for a twenty-seven-foot pilot house fire and EMS rescue boat. The boat will cost 163-thousand dollars to buy and equip for service. It will be fast, too, with a power plant that consists of two three-hundred-horsepower engines.
