County officials are in talks with Western Michigan University about the possibility of bringing their aviation program to the vacant IMPAC University site and space at Punta Gorda Airport. Charlotte County’s Economic Development Director Tom Patton says getting the avionics program could be a big plus for increased economic development. He tells NBC2 students with an avionics degree could open the door on a more diverse workforce with skills that could be applied to a number of other industries.
