Charlotte County officials say they’ve started the last phase of creating a hurricane evacuation route for Englewood. It will be along Winchester Boulevard. NBC2 reports the $17-million project will extend Winchester to Placida Road, which runs next to Lemon Bay. Charlotte County’s taking some heat for the 4-lane highway. It’s being built next to residential lots which has some worried about falling property values. All side roads into the project are will be shut down until the extension is completed.
