Plans for a landfill in Charlotte County have gone away. NBC2 reports Calusa Green, LLC has canceled its request to rezone land in eastern Charlotte County. Several opponents of the landfill are very happy. In a one-sentence letter, Calusa Green told the county to cancel its request to rezone the site to accommodate a landfill. There’s been no explanation from anyone at Calusa Green on why they pulled the plug on the landfill plan, but a county spokesperson says they can come back with a request at any time.
