Thirty-eight cases ended with sentencing during the 2012-2013 fiscal year — up from 29 the previous year.  Arrest records showed dozens of charges, from torturing helpless pets to disposing their bodies in revolting ways. One man was charged with animal abuse after shocking his dog with electrical cords over and over again.  Lt. Brian Jones of  Charlotte County Animal Control sats if you see an animal being abused, report it.  Jones says they’re filing more successful charges against people, but also seeing more crimes directed at animals than before.
