Charlotte County Extends Temporary Housing for Hurricane Displaced Residents

Charlotte County residents displaced by hurricanes Ian and Idalia can stay in temporary mobile homes and RVs for an extra year. Commissioners extended the deadline for those displaced by Hurricane Ian until Sept. 22, 2025, and for those affected by Hurricane Idalia until Aug. 23, 2026. Recovery efforts are ongoing, with some residents still dealing with insurance claims and ongoing repairs. To qualify for temporary housing, homes must have been damaged by either hurricane. Residents must register their temporary RVs, and those without permits for mobile homes can apply at the Community Development Department.
