Charlotte County commissioners will meet with staff next month to discuss ways of paying for what’s turned into a very controversial $17.7 million sewer project they say is necessary to protect Charlotte Harbor from failing septic systems in the East and West Spring Lake area of Port Charlotte. Commissioners will hear from budget officials at a special workshop August 21st at 9a.m. at the County Administration Building. The North Port Sun reports among the ideas that are on the table: levying special assessments or creating a wastewater municipal services benefit unit, or MSBU.
