Charlotte County is set to be the home of one of three new solar electricity parks in Florida, producing a total of over 220MW of power. Florida Power and Light Company expects the project to be completed by the end of next year. Babcock Ranch Solar Energy in Charlotte County will join sites in DeSoto and Manatee counties in the venture. FPL says it chose the areas due to existing and sufficient transmission needs to help keep solar costs competitive with other energy sources.
