The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of a fraudulent telephone scam that has been ongoing through the County Thursday. A release from the CCSO says that a number or residents received telephone calls from a man indicating that he works for the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. He then advises them that they have missed taking part in Jury Duty or have an active warrant out for their arrest for other reasons. The caller also advised that they are required to respond to the Charlotte County Courthouse and pay a fine of $1000 dollars. Officials are reminding people that the sheriff’s office does not make telephone calls demanding payment for fines.
