Charlotte County is set to take part in a unique energy savings program. The county agreeing to green-light participation in the Guaranteed Energy Performance Savings Contracting program. It’s a popular state energy program that provides counties with cash based on how much they can save on utility bills. Under the plan, counties can borrow based on projected utility bill savings. The cash can then be used for energy plans they might not otherwise be able to afford, such as large solar energy projects.
