The Charlotte County Health Department is focusing on community-wide health initiatives.

That means sometime this summer, the department will end dental and primary medical care for current patients, and some current department employees will be looking for work. A spokesperson tells NBC2 the change will allow the agency to use its’ shrinking budget to work on eliminating public health risks and promoting health and wellness for the entire community. There are options for individual care, including Family Health Centers of SW Florida Port Charlotte and the North Port Health Center. The current Englewood clinic will remain open until Family Health opens an office there.
