CCSO’s warning residents scam artists are at it again, with some new angles on getting you to part with your money on the phone. The new scheme that’s started this month involves a call from a man claiming one of your relatives has been in a car crash with a gang member. The caller says your been taken hostage, but will be released for as cash payment. Deputies say 5 of those calls were traced back to a Massachusetts phone number. The Sheriff’s Office says if you get that kind of extortion call, contact local law enforcement and report it, and don’t send the caller any money.
