The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office today says it wants people to lock their vehicles.
It describes most vehicle break-ins as crimes of opportunity.
Thieves target unlocked vehicles outside homes, in driveways, and on the streets in front of homes.
The sheriff’s office says if people locked their car doors and stopped leaving valuables inside them, then thefts from them would drastically drop.
