(SOUTH CHARLOTTE COUNTY) Charlotte County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit detectives continued their investigation Thursday into the death of a man whose badly decomposed body was found Wednesday in South Charlotte County. The body was located by two bee keepers making a clearing in a wooded area at 14091 S.R. 31, just north of the Lee County line.

MCU detectives are still working to get positive confirmation on identification of the man. As a result of their continuing investigation, detectives are holding the crime scene area for another night. Detectives are actively following up on all information and leads in this case. They are also awaiting the Charlotte County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report, which includes Toxicology tests. This morning, members of the Southwest Florida Police Academy of Ft. Myers, were invited to the scene to assist in a search of the heavily wooded area for any possible evidence. Next update will be on Friday.
